Derbyshire v Durham MCCU

Sorry there was no blog last night but our internet was down locally and is only just back up.

Derbyshire's squad for today's game, where a lot of people need to make an impression:

Godleman, Slater, Borrington, Durston, Redfern, Clare, Poynton, Burgoyne, A Hughes, Higginbottom, Evans, Whiteley.

I'm disappointed that Tom Knight isn't in there, but the rest is pretty much as I called it the other night, especially among the batsmen who need to get good runs here.

More later, hopefully, but old Peaky is playing tonight so it will be much later...

Going to pop over to TCG today for a couple of sessions - well done to the club for making it free entry!

The squad makes sense - some pressure on some of the batters though. A score here might get Bozza back in the team at the expense of Godleman. Could be an interesting 3 day's play!

So, Durham were hopeless, but having watched 'till tea, I came away with the following thoughts...

    1) Godleman might have made 49 quickly, but at least 12 of them came off the edge. Still undecided.
    2) It was good to see Wes get so much time in the middle
    3) Danny Red looked all at sea
    4) Bozza was just looking like he was in before getting out
    5) Ben Slater looks a class act. He's looking to score all the time - he doesn't just block, he pushes the ball crisply to fielders. Could be a real good 'un.
    6) Alex Hughes also further cemented my opinion he is a very promising 'busy' cricketer.

Decent day out, but perhaps difficult to take anything too meaningful from it. Still, you can only compete against what you're up against.
